Paskett Winery

2018 Cabernet Franc

&

2018 Cabernet Franc Red Blend

Historically, Cabernet Franc winegrapes were grown to be blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec to create the Bordeaux-style red blend wines.  It is a black grape with high acidity, and medium-high tannins and body.  Cabernet Franc has black cherry, raspberry, pepper and chili flavors and is sometimes vinified as a stand alone varietal.  Both of these new wines from Paskett Winery can be held for years to come and will get more complex with bottle age.

The red winegrapes grown in France's Bordeaux region are among our favorites. We have successfully grown them in Lodi's Mokelumne River AVA for more than 50 years.   In 2019, we added a block of Cabernet Franc at the edge of the Mokelumne River, behind the winery's tasting room. We plan to expand this vineyard in 2022.  We also plan to plant Malbec, as it grows well in our soils and climate.    Cheers to being blessed with good growing conditions and having an abundance of winegrapes from which to choose.
